About Me

James Knight

Originally from Michigan, where I received a B.A. in theater/performance from Western Michigan University. Afterwords I moved to Kansas City and received an M.F.A. in Acting and Directing from the University of Missouri/Kansas City. Despite having family in Los Angeles, connections took me towards the East Coast and New York City where I spent the next 13 years working in theater, television, film, and voice overs. In addition to being onstage/onscreen talent I also gained extensive experience teaching Shakespeare and Acting classes to a variety of age groups and demographics: from elementary schools, to underserved public city schools, senior centers, West Point cadets, and more. While on the East Coast I helped produce the WordBRIDGE Playwrights Laboratory as a member of Generous Company; fostering and working with such talents as George Brant, Antoinette Nwandu, and others. I relocated to the northwest suburbs of Chicago after my daughter was born and now help run Raue Center For the Arts and its in house Equity theater company, Williams Street Repertory. The “real job” has given me the stability to raise my family and the flexibility to take on artistic projects as they come. Member in good standing with AEA, SAG-AFTRA.
